Yyteri Beach

There is nothing like the sweet sound of summer fun along the ocean's edge. Families filling their buckets with sand or spilling the sweet drinks they brought with them as they slide to catch a free flying frisbee. All the world's worries wash away as the currents catch a furrowed brow and bring it far out to sea. Yyteri is a holiday resort in Finland, about 17 km away from the centre of Pori, bordering the Baltic sea. Yyteri is most famous for its beach, which stretches for about six kilometres, and is very popular among both local people and people from elsewhere in Finland. The beach is one of the longest in all of the Nordic countries, and has many distinctive dunes. The dune area is unique in Europe because of its size. There is a unisex nudist area in the centre of the beach, which is few hundred metres wide, one of only two in the entire country in Finland, with the other in Helsinki. s well as the beach, Yyteri also has a spa, hotels and a restaurant. An 18-hole golf course is located in the Yyteri area and there are also many other outdoor activities including surfing, beach volley, riding and over 30km of hiking routes.
