Description
The group of gritty faced wilderness adventurers trek through the afternoon forest, half forgetting the hipster lifestyle they have overwhelmingly decided to leave behind in the big city for a special weekend away with nature. Indeed, their dormant animal souls, sucking them down into the earth, is almost enough to attend to their egos, giving them just enough of a twist in time toward the ancient past to raise their hackles so they can go back to their hipster friends with some super green credentials. In the United States and United Kingdom, hiking refers to walking outdoors on a trail for recreational purposes. A day hike refers to a hike that can be completed in a single day - not requiring an overnight camp. Multi-day hikes with camping is referred to as backpacking. In the United Kingdom hiking is usually called rambling, which resulted in the hiking organization named Ramblers. Bushwhacking specifically refers to difficult walking through dense forest, undergrowth, or bushes, where forward progress requires pushing vegetation aside. In extreme cases of bushwhacking where the vegetation is so dense that human passage is impeded, a machete is used to clear a pathway. In Czechia and Slovakia, tramping is a combined culture of hiking, backpacking, scouting, woodcraft, music, with the characteristic flavor of American culture, especially Wild West. Hikers often seek beautiful natural environments in which to hike. These environments are often fragile: hikers may accidentally destroy the environment that they enjoy. While the action of an individual may not strongly affect the environment, the mass effect of a large number of hikers can degrade the environment.
