Description
The water's whisper is one of the sweetest sounds in nature. Only happiness can be had from this symbol of summer's approach as hard ice cracks and the earth becomes soft and moving once more. All the creatures of the land come to praise and give thanks for the frost free seasons as they stand in silent reverence around the lake, the ultimate provider and foundation of all creation. One can't help but be humbled by the simplicity and power of nature. Wahtum Lake is a lake in the Mount Hood National Forest in the US state of Oregon. The Forest was first established as the Bull Run Forest Reserve in 1892. It was merged with part of Cascade National Forest on July 1, 1908 and named Oregon National Forest. The name was changed again to Mount Hood National Forest in 1924. In 2010, it was honored with its own quarter under the America the Beautiful Quarters program. It is one of the most-visited National Forests in the United States, with over four million visitors annually.
