Description
The relaxing rhythm of gaming revelry resonates in this adolescent's sacred sanctuary; home to spiraling space invaders and air hockey smack-downs. The favorite son's of never-never land lounge and let loose in the privacy of their palatial paradise, prancing gayly between laser punches and first-person shooters. Partake in the pride of these proud and special people. Video arcades started springing up in the late 1970s and were most popular during the golden age of arcade games, the early 1980s. In some cities and towns in the US, largely due to parents' demands, video arcades would be monitored by a sheriff or policeman to prevent truancy, and many children would not be allowed entry into the arcades unless the schools were closed. In addition to video games, arcades may also have other games, such as pinball machines, redemption games, merchandiser games, or coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables.
