Description
This snappy sound sure gets the creative juices flowing. In 1865, Rev. Rasmus Malling-Hansen of Denmark invented the first typewriter to be commercially sold, while the first commercially successful one was invented in 1867 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. According to the 1910 U.S. census, 81 percent of typists were female and so flowers were printed on the casing of early models to make the machine seem more comfortable for women to use. The end of the typewriter's popularity came in the 1980s with the advent of desktop publishing. A click a day can keep the blues away. Enjoy the clean sound of a typewriter.
