Description
You can feel the frantic voices of the area's critters, both excited and afraid, in a universal chorus of frenzied sounds as the thunder approaches land. WInd begins to whip up the grasses and hurried howls of birds and beasts begin to fill the air, making it thicker with sound than the marsh is with water. Marshes are a type of wetland that is subject to frequent or continuous flooding. They are critically important wildlife habitat, often serving as breeding grounds for a wide variety of animal life, particularly including ducks and geese. A marsh is different from a swamp, which has a greater proportion of open water surface and may be deeper than a marsh. In North America, the term "swamp" is used for wetland dominated by trees rather than grasses and low herbs.
