Ships On The River

It's fishing season in Oregon. The boats bob around trying to hook a Rainbow Trout or catch an Atlantic Salmon. Family yachts are also floating around on the rivers, along with a few jet-skiers. Plentiful salmon made parts of the Columbia River hubs of economic activity for thousands of years. In the 20th century, numerous hydroelectric dams were constructed along the Columbia, with major impacts on salmon, transportation and commerce, electric power, and flood control.
