Description

The sea spreads its calming sound over the land as critters create an everlasting afternoon experience with the fullness of their calls. You take a seat and envision the sun filling you with a warmth so rich and deep that when winter comes you will barely notice the frost forming on your long wispy beard. Open your shirt and expose your belly to the light, it has been way too many years since your skin has been kissed by the golden ball in the sky. The Kingdom of Scotland emerged as an independent sovereign state in the Early Middle Ages and continued to exist until 1707, although it had been in a personal union with the kingdoms of England and Ireland since James VI of Scotland succeeded to the English and Irish thrones in 1603. Scotland's wildlife is typical of the north west of Europe, although several of the larger mammals such as the Lynx, Brown Bear, Wolf, Elk and Walrus were hunted to extinction in historic times. There are important populations of seals and internationally significant nesting grounds for a variety of seabirds such as Gannets.
