Riverside Evening

The water laps gently at the river’s edges. The evening is growing dark, and the sky becomes alight with stars. The current picks up speed and creates bigger waves. In the distance animals and insects begin their nightly serenade. Every once in a while the sound of a car, and the barking of dog can be heard breaking the chorus of the waves.

A river is a natural watercourse usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, a lake, a sea, or another river. In a few cases, a river simply flows into the ground or dries up completely at the end of its course, and does not reach another body of water. Small rivers may be called by several other names, including stream, creek, brook, rivulet, and rill.
