River Birds Cuckoo

Let the sound of a bird's cuckoo keep you from going cuckoo. Cuckoo birds are generally medium sized slender birds. One of the most important distinguishing physical features of these birds are the two inner toes pointing forward and the two outer backward. Within this species the calls are highly consistent across the range. This suggests, along with the fact that many species are not raised by their parents, that the calls of cuckoos are innate and not learned. The cuckoo family gets its English name from the call of the Common Cuckoo, which is also familiar from cuckoo clocks.
