Description
You are sheltered from the onslaught of the pouring rain by the bus stop. The rain gathers in puddles around you and follows its way down the drain beneath the sidewalk. It carries with it bits of leaves and tiny pieces of trash. Everything that could be seen across the street is covered in sheets of rain. The dampness seeps into your clothing even though you are under the bus stop shelter. Minutes continue to pass, as you search the distance for signs of the lights of the bus.
Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapor and then precipitated—that is, become heavy enough to fall under gravity. Rain is a major component of the water cycle and is responsible for depositing most of the fresh water on the Earth. It provides suitable conditions for many types of ecosystem, as well as water for hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation.
