The swirling north sea is one of the most serious and sacred centers of vital essence on earth. Untamed and totally unlimited in its awesome power, this ever moving patch of dark water wastes no time in building giant waves or storms that stretch the sky from one horizon to the other. Never underestimate the state of this sea, as its taste can go from calm to crashing in the blink of an eye. St Cyrus is a village located in the extreme south of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The remains of the Kaim of Mathers is located on rock pinnacles on the northern most part of the beach. Built by the Berkeley (or Barclay) family, it was used as a refuge by David de Berkely from the vengance of the king when, around 1420, he was part of a group who murdered the local sheriff, John Melville of Glenbervie. There are known prehistorical archaeological sites in the general coastal area of St Cyrus. Examples of these features include Gourdon Hill to the north and the Stone of Morphie, to the west.
