The sweet little songs of the sky burst to life as adults, adolescents, and newborns nestled together along the turn of a branch all tune their instruments and trumpet their tidings into the fresh forest air. There is no end to the many ways in which these wonderful little birds can bend a note and take simple sounds into the realm of superb symphonic style. The name Nightingale has been used for well over 1,000 years, being highly recognizable even in its Anglo-Saxon form - 'nihtingale', which means 'night songstress'. The nightingale is an important symbol for poets from a variety of ages, and has taken on a number of symbolic connotations. The poet Percy Shelley wrote, "A poet is a nightingale who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds; his auditors are as men entranced by the melody of an unseen musician, who feel that they are moved and softened, yet know not whence or why.” This sound uses the following file from Freesound: http://www.freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=96607
