Description
The divine sound of gentle waves lapping onto the shores of the Scottish highlands is unmistakable by even the most unrefined ear. The waters stretch out into blue sky, green rolling hills, and snow covered peaks as your busy mind melts into the warm embrace of a wild scottish countryside. The loch is over 9 miles (14 km) long in an east-west direction with an average width of about 1,090 yards (1,000 m). The loch and surrounding areas have suffered from extensive deforestation and plantation of alien species. These practices have given rise to sections of dense, unproductive tree plantations alternating with deforested areas - a common problem across much of the Scottish Highlands.
