Description
Little shimmering curls of soft water seem to wander with no real direction against the shore. A corner of the world too lazy to find direction or even any real destination. Just meandering about the landscape bumping into this rock or that duck's foot. It's all good in this simple state of mind where the sun and moon seem to rise and fall at the same time. Day and night are of little consequence to both predator and prey as peace the is the more important sustenance here. The coastal zone is a dynamic area of natural change and of increasing human use. They occupy less than 15% of the Earth's land surface; yet accommodate more than 50% of the world population (it is estimated that 3.1 billion people live within 200 kilometres from the sea). With three-quarters of the world population expected to reside in the coastal zone by 2025, human activities originating from this small land area will impose an inordinate amount of pressures on the global system.
