Description
The sweet, soft sound of a calm shore, water lapping at your feet, is a relaxing way to break up the day. Lapping water is formed by small waves. Ripples appear on smooth water when the wind blows, but will die quickly if the wind stops. For gentle lapping to occur, the wind must be slow. A wave breaks when it runs into shallow water, like when it hits the shoreline. Because these types of waves occur very close to the surface of the water, they do not break until they are right at the water's edge. Enjoy another beautiful day at the beach.
