Description
Embrace your inner Danish spirit as you drift by immense seaside cliffs lining this fjord filled coastline. The meaning of the word fjord is slightly different depending on the country, but generally refers to either a narrow inlet of the sea, or a long narrow freshwater lake. Fjords are formed when a glacier cuts a U-shaped valley through the surrounding bedrock. As late as 2000, some of the world's largest coral reefs were discovered along the bottoms of the Danish fjords. The reefs are host to thousands of lifeforms such as plankton, coral, anemones, fish, and several species of shark. The abundance of marine life on the reefs is believed to be one of the most important reasons why the Danish coastline is such a generous fishing ground.
