Description
As a peaceful summer stream subtly sends the sound of soft waters whispering through the wood, a thundering jet plane flies through the sky, reminding the forest dwellers that the dominion of man is never far from earshot. The concept of the jet engine was developed during the 1920s and '30s with the first manufactured turbine jetplane being flown in Germany in 1939. On November 8, 1950, during the Korean War, United States Air Force Lt. Russell J. Brown, flying in an F-80, intercepted two North Korean MiG-15s near the Yalu River and shot them down in the first jet-to-jet dogfight in history. The fastest jet aircraft is the unmanned X-43 scramjet flying at around Mach 9-10.
