Description

This rushing river rises and falls through quaint neighborhoods, and calmly courses its way through the countryside of norther Europe. Its cool waters are known for accommodating the complexity of the concrete corridors that allow it to so easily snake its way through city settings. The Jeker is a river in Belgium and the Netherlands. Rafting on the Jeker is an entertaining recreational activity. Beginning in Kanne, it is possible to raft into the city of Maastricht on this relaxing river, where it then flows into the river Meuse. The trip from Kanne to Maastricht takes about 2 hours, and crosses the border between Belgium and The Netherlands. Much of the Netherlands is formed by the estuary of three important European rivers with about 20% of its area and 21% of its population located below sea level.
