The bus is packed to capacity and speeds swiftly along the Hong Kong streets. The driver is confident and changes gears seamlessly in the ongoing traffic. The bus pulls into a stop. Passengers get off and others quickly file in to take their seats. The purr of the engine continues as the bus makes it’s daily rounds.

Bus services in Hong Kong has a long history. As of 2005, five companies operate franchised public bus services. There are also a variety of non-franchised public buses services, including feeder bus services to railway stations operated by MTR, and residents' services for residential estates (particularly those in the New Territories).
