Description
Flocks of screeching seagulls soar above the waves as the bright cliffs along the shore shine in the sun's rays and provide passing gulls a place to perch and pass the time away. Settle yourself into the scene of the Scottish seashore and set your senses down onto the calming countryside of the northern British Isles. Fowlsheugh is a coastal nature reserve in northeast Scotland. It is known for its seventy metre high cliff formations and its prolific seabird nesting colonies. In excess of 170,000 birds inhabit Fowlsheugh at the peak breeding season between April and late July. As of 2005 about 18,000 breeding pairs of Kittiwakes return to Fowlsheugh each year, making their nests on some of the most vertical parts of the landscape from muck, seaweed and local grasses.
