This sound is similar to walking on dirt, but you can tell that there is more grit under your feet when you step. Gravel actually refers to the size of rock pieces, and is usually defined as being particles 2-63mm in diameter (about 1/12 an inch to 2.5 inches). The next smallest size range is sand, and the next largest is cobblestone.
