Description
This sound of the foghorn is surely an ominous one. Its the sound representing the presence of a hazard to a boat, such as land, rocks, or other boats. The sound is produced by a vibrating column of air, and involves some pretty complex machinery. This sound may eventually be phased out by the automation of lighthouses and newer technologies like compressed air horns.
