Flags Flapping in the Wind

Historically, flags have been used during warfare. Carried by horsemen, flags of various shapes -squares, triangles, elongated kites, etc.- were used for signaling and communication. Flags are of most use when the fabric is extended by the wind, allowing for the complete design to be viewed instead of hidden within the folds of the fabric.
