Dive straight into the crisp cascading sound of swirling fresh water; washing through fine green forest, over round rocks, and through the tiniest cavities in the earth. These waters don't whisper, they sing out loud with a resounding shout that brightens every single basin, from the Amazon rain forests of Brazil to the breathtaking bounty of Siberia. In North America and Australia, a small to medium sized natural stream is referred to as a creek. In the US, a stream is classified as a watercourse less than 60 feet (18 metres) wide. Creeks typically derive most of their water from precipitation in the form of rain and snow. Creeks are important as conduits in the water cycle, instruments in groundwater recharge, and they serve as corridors for fish and wildlife migration. The biological habitat in the immediate vicinity of a stream is called a riparian zone. This sound uses the following file from Freesound: http://freesound.org/samplesViewSingle.php?id=100387
