There are around 1500 different species of cicadas in the world, many of which are located within Southeast Asia. There are dozens of species in the forests of Thailand because the cicadas are attracted to the warm, tropical climate. Several species that may be heard from cicadas in the forests of Thailand are the Cofana subvirescens, Bothrogonia addita, and Atkinsoniella opponens.
