Description
The midday traffic stirs up the birds as they circle overhead, trying to find their next landing spot and easy meal. Cars and bikes whiz past you and the slightly chilly breeze lifts your skirt into the air. A strange man taps his car horn as he turns and looks your way. You wonder if it was the skirt or the bike messenger flying bye that got his attention. Many thousands of birds die each year in the cities of North America from hitting skyscrapers due to mistaking reflective windows for open sky, or being drawn to lights at night. In 1997 New York City Audubon launched Project Safe Flight to work toward long-term solutions for the bird collision problem.
