Car Alarm

NPR describes this car alarm as the familiar urban "song": 16 siren wails as an introduction, followed by 16 more, in a different pattern. Then eight descending swoops, then two long upward swoops, then the "European ambulance" sound, like a shrill grunt. Finally, as a coda, a truly annoying staccato of warning tones. This sound contributes to the noise pollution in cities, but you might want to double check to see if this sound is actually coming from a car. Mockingbirds make these sounds too.
