Buzzing Bees

Busy little bees buzz around the fragrant field. Filled with colorful flowers, the bees are in heavenly bliss as they bounce from one delicious petal to the next. Each stop they make means an overwhelming new supply of pollen to take home to the queen. There are nearly 20,000 known species of bees in seven to nine recognized families, and they are found on every continent except Antarctica. Bees either focus on gathering nectar or on gathering pollen depending on demand, especially in social species. It is estimated that one third of the human food supply depends on insect pollination, most of which is accomplished by bees.
