Blackbird In Town

Description

The adolescent-male blackbird's song can be heard in the springtime, as early as January and as late as July. The more mature, adult male joins in sometime in late March. The beautiful, melodious warbles and coos of its calls are often used either to establish territory or to alarm predators. From its elevated perch, the blackbird bellows, allowing its song to echo off of trees and other structures before the small bird retires for the evening.
