Description
Join your fine feathered friends as they snuggle in the warmth of their family nest. Nests are usually made of things like twigs, grass, and leaves; or may simply be a depression in the ground, or a hole in a tree, rock or building. Some birds, like the Thick-billed Murre and Razorbill, lay their eggs directly onto narrow rocky ledges. In most species, the female does all or most of the nest construction, though the male often helps. Though most birds nest individually, some species, like penguins and flamingos, gather together in sizable colonies. Birds that nest like this have more protection against predators and are better able to utilize food supplies, by following more successful foragers to their foraging sites.
