Description

The big wigs make their way to the cafe to catch the latest gossip and keep up appearances while sipping stylishly from non-sweetened cappuccinos or creamed coffee. Bury yourself the action filled atmosphere as you hear them harangue and handle business in this ancient bustling baltic state. Belgrade is the capitol city of Serbia. The wider city area was the birthplace of the largest prehistoric culture of Europe, the Vinča culture, as early as the 6th millennium BC. It was named after a fortress that was founded in the 3rd century BCE by the Celts. As a strategic location, the city was battled over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times by armies of the East and West. Frequently passing from Ottoman to Austrian rule, which saw destruction of most of the city, the status of the Serbian capital would be regained only in 1841, after the Serbian revolution.
